When it comes to creating lifelong relationships the key is one thing – TRUST

When you have TRUST everything else in the relationship is easy.

  • It’s easy to get a hold of each other
  • It’s easy to communicate with each other
  • It’s easy to forgive each other (when one of you messes up, which will undoubtedly happen)

Trust isn’t given. It must be earned.

Here are 5 ways to build trust in your relationships

1.Immediate response

When someone texts, call or emails you that means they are thinking of you. You are on their mind and they are in the modality to want to do business with you. The faster you respond, the more likely they will still be in that same mindset. The longer you take the more likely it is for them to have found someone else to answer their question and potentially decide to give their business to.

2. Deliver value

When communicating with people focus on WIIFM or “what’s in it for THEM”. What value are they getting by taking the time to open your message, read it and hopefully respond. If you can’t answer that question in under 30 seconds it’s likely your message isn’t value based.

3. Be a connector

We don’t have the answer to every question, but if we’re good at what we do, we’ve built a network of people who can help. When someone asks you a question don’t hesitate to connect them with someone who can best support them.

4. Be proactive

If your clients are reaching out to you to ask for an update on deal then you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to build trust. Even a short text message letting a client know there hasn’t been any movement is better than nothing. It’s easy to be proactive with active clients but even more important is your past clients. Don’t expect them to remember you 7 years later. Stay in touch every 30/60/90 days.

5. Be honest

If you say you’re going to do something then do it. Don’t lead with fluff and deliver with lack. First impressions are important and memorable. Everything that happens after that should live up to what you promised would be delivered. If you can’t deliver on something be honest. Even better connect them with someone who can.
